Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off on February 14, 2020 Tidewater Writing Project Open Institute Posted on February 13, 2020 by 3156 The Tidewater Writing Project (TWP) is offering an Open Institute focused on making writing instruction a priority in PreK – 12 content areas. I am writing to ask you to encourage your teachers to attend the Open Institute in Spring 2020 on March 21 st , from 9 AM to 3 PM. The registration is $60 per teacher and registration is due March 1 st . This training is available for PreK – 12 teachers and attendees will receive 5 hours’ worth of re-certification points toward their professional development training. As an affiliate of the National Writing Project, the Tidewater Writing Project seeks to build teacher leadership in schools and improve students’ writing and learning in all subjects and at all grade levels. The Open Institute will demonstrate writing techniques and explore teaching strategies that have been proven to have significantly positive effects on the quality of students’ writing in different content areas of PreK – 12 classrooms. Our goal is that attendees of the Open Institute will implement what they have learned in their classrooms and share ideas with their colleagues. MILS 175 Special Topic in Military Science (1 credit) “Effecting Change in the Workplace” This course examines how we can be agents of change in the workplace through an understanding of key leadership principles. Current and former enlisted members of the United States Armed Forces are particularly encouraged to take this course. Graduate Level LMOL 575 Special Topic in Organizational Leadership (1 credit) “Introduction to Organizational Leadership” What is the leader’s role in strategic organizational thinking and change? This course will draw insight from strategic thinking and change management literature to promote effective leadership in a rapidly changing world. ECUR 575 Special Topic in Curriculum & Instruction (1 credit) “Curriculum Development and Design” This course will introduce some of the challenges faced by learning disabled students and provide strategies and techniques that promote a better teaching and learning experience for a diverse body of students.
